Promotional Materials Should be a Part of Your Cookbook Program from Beginning to End

Postcards, posters, banners, bookmarks, sell sheets, magnets—what do all these things have in common? They can all be used to promote your cookbook as well as gain brand awareness among prospective buyers—from the end consumer to a retail store. Often, these materials are used in the presales stage of your book campaign. A successful presales campaign will afford you the opportunity to generate cash flow and begin to build momentum for your cookbook sales. It is important to have something to represent the book to prospective buyers. That’s where the promotional materials come in. The types of materials that you will use will be dictated by your marketing plan. You certainly don't want to pay for materials that you are not going to use, so be sure to plan carefully. Click here to read the complete article.

Did you know FRP’s Marketing Momentum is a program of promotional materials to help you sell your cookbook? We offer banners, bookmarks, business cards, postcards (two sizes), posters, presale order forms, and promotional mock-ups. We can also help you with special order items such as custom brochures or sample recipe cards. To learn more about the program and to download an order form, click here.

These magazines are distributed, free of charge, in physicians’ waiting rooms. Clegg’s recipes, color photos, Web site information, and general by-line will be featured.

REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROMOTIONS

Put in place at least four specials per year, which you can offer to your wholesale accounts during each quarter. That way, when you contact them they'll know it’s something worth their while to pay attention to. An E-mail-blast is a really good and inexpensive method of communicating to a very large group of contacts if you have their e-mail addresses. There are also those who don't use e-mail whom you'll need to telephone or mail a postcard to with the offer. Be sure to note the style by which they prefer to be contacted in your database management system to make the most of your promotional communications.
