In 1961, FRP was created as Favorite Recipes Press in Montgomery , Alabama by Millard Fuller and Morris Dees . These two gentlemen created the company to fund their college educations and became incredibly successful in the cookbook world. Both sold their interests in the company to pursue the nationally known ventures they now direct. Fuller is founder and president of Habitat for Humanity International , and Dees is founder and director of the Southern Poverty Law Center

FRP is now one of the nation's best-known and respected producers of cookbooks. Since 1961 , it has produced over 800 titles , working with nonprofit organizations, individuals, and corporations to create custom cookbooks that reflect the individuality, budget, and goals of each client. FRP works with many different publishing entities, each with its own unique structure and needs, and the driving corporate goal is to “partner” with each client, helping that client and his/her cookbook be the best it can possibly be.

Favorite Recipes Press became FRP in 1997, reflecting its phenomenal growth in the book world and its new ventures into other types of book concepts. With a staff of over 40 trained professionals , FRP offers full service to self-publishing authors and organizations. FRP provides complete support in editorial, design, production, marketing, distribution, storage, and fulfillment . Custom payment terms, a monthly electronic newsletter, an annual training seminar in Nashville and a Junior League training seminar in conjunction with the annual AJLI conference are just a few of the extra services provided to clients in an effort to expand their successful sales and marketing efforts. The Cookbook Marketplace SM , the distribution division of FRP, has grown to represent over 225 cookbook titles to the book, gift, and gourmet markets.

In 2002, FRP introduced a new imprint, Community Classics ™ . This product line is tailored to fit publishers in smaller markets or with budget limitations who still want to produce a high-quality cookbook. Marketing, distribution, storage, and fulfillment services are offered to these publishers as well.

FRP is a division of Southwestern/Great American, an employee-owned company in Nashville , Tennessee . Southwestern was created in 1868 as a publishing entity that helps students finance their college expenses through the sales of family-oriented educational reference books, and its student division is the largest organization of its kind in the country. Great American, established in 1975, markets fund-raising programs to schools, clubs, and civic organizations and is one of the largest companies engaged in the $1 billion community fund-raising industry.

Dedication to customer service and quality products and the goal to become a partner with our clients, vendors, and employees are the basis upon which FRP is built. Our commitment to these core values and purposes is what supports and directs our growth, and our dedication to our clients and their projects drives our vision for the future.
